A Double-Dare!

When was the last time you did something just for the heck of it - extracted the goodness from the moment: acted spontaneously? According to Germain Greer, 'The essence of pleasure is spontaneity'.
Some people go through their lives believing that tomorrow will be better than today. Others think that yesterday was a lot better than today. Both groups eventually come to realise that John Lennon was close to the mark when he philosophised that life is what happens to us when we're busy making other plans. It doesn't matter much whether you're an adopter or adapter, life's over before you know it.
Acting spontaneously could be a good idea. Probably one of the most quoted poems capturing regrets for a life too prudently lived and lacking spontaneity is 'I'd Pick More Daisies'. The poem has been translated into many languages and is attributed to many different authors. The only thing that there is agreement about is that whomever wrote it was 80+.
I'd like to reproduce the poem for you, but that would not find favour with they who must be obeyed. The key message is not to wait until it's too late to act spontaneously to do something just for the heck of it.
If it's so, that one day our life will flash before our eyes, make sure that what we'll see is worth watching.
Our search for work-life balance must start with us: no one else can do it for us. The time is now to bite the bullet and take control of our life. Failure to sit in the driver's seat of our life will see someone else will be eager to do that for us.

Non-Surgical Face Lifting: What Is It and How Does It Work?

Looking younger is not a new fashion standard and people seem to have been obsessed with youth ever since the dawn of civilization. However, only modern medicine and technology have been able to provide people with solutions for their dream. Injections, surgery and face creams have become widely popular around the world and both women and men use them to rejuvenate their skin. While these methods may fail sometimes (face creams, for example) and while some of them may leave ugly scars behind, you should also know that there is one more method: the so-called "non-surgical face lifting".
This method is still not as popular as the other techniques out there, but its fame is growing with every day that passes by. It is rather easy to understand why non-surgical face lifting is so appreciated out there. First of all, it is completely pain-free and it does not imply surgery, the costs of surgery and the terror of going under the knife. Secondly, you can go back to your normal activities after every session of treatment is done. Thirdly (and this may be one of the most important aspects), it actually works and it shows almost miraculous results.
There are three major steps involved in this type of "face lifting": microdermabrasion, electroporation and oxygen infusion. The first step deeply exfoliates the skin and prepares it for what comes next by making sure impurities and dead skin are taken out of the way.
The second step is related to electrical impulses that are sent into the skin to make it more "open" to absorbing a strong serum that is to be applied. Basically, this skin rejuvenation technique is based on two things: a special collagen-rich serum and a device that sends small electrical impulses into the skin, stimulates it and allows the serum to enter into its deep layers. The electrical impulses are not painful, but they are necessary because they invert the polarity of the skin cells for a very short amount of time, to allow it to be more permeable for the serum.
Last but not least, the third step uses a special device that applies pressurized pure hyperbaric oxygen into the skin. Since oxygen has a refreshing effect, the skin will look brighter, younger and fresher and it will help with the further blending into the skin of the collagen serum.
All these three steps are important for long-term effectsand, depending on your skin issue and how serious it is, you will need a few sessions of this. Taking into consideration the effects as well as the fact that they will be long-term, the fact that it will not be painful and the fact that you can simply go back to your life after the treatment -no need for hospitalization and for taking days off work- it will all be worth it. This technique can be used for a wide variety of skin issues, and not just for skin rejuvenation. Sun-damaged skin (which can be quite a common issue in Australia) and acne marks can also be improved by using the three steps described here.

The Five Hs

During my 25 years of practice, I've had the opportunity to treat patients with a wide variety of conditions-- acid reflux, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and migraines, to name a few. But I find that whether a patient walks into my office with an allergy, emotional issue, or nutritional problem, they often share one similarity: they are trying to "manage" their condition with prescription medication. This is especially true of patients over the age of 50, many of whom take between five and eight medications each day. But this is not necessary; I use an eclectic combination of holistic methods to treat even the most dangerous ailments, including the 5Hs: High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, High Blood Sugar, Heavy Metals and Herpes. I also help patients make lifestyle changes that can either prevent their conditions or reduce their effect on our lives.
Let's start with high blood pressure, a condition that affects one in four Americans. Why do so many people have high blood pressure? Many of those people could normalize their blood pressure by adhering to a healthy lifestyle. I strongly recommend the DASH diet, a high fiber, low sodium regimen that is scientifically sound and, along with Mediterranean Diet, is often rated the #1 diet.
High blood sugar is another major concern. In recent years, diabetes has reached near-epidemic proportions. Approximately 25 million Americans have diabetes, with another 75 million teetering on the cusp. This disease does not discriminate, either. It affects people of all races, religions and socioeconomic groups. In fact, several celebrities, including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, and Mary Tyler Moore, all suffer from either Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes. Most worrisome, however, is the so called "pre-diabetic generation". The CDC predicts that in the next ten years, 30% of our children will become diabetic. In my experience, once a patient starts taking medication for diabetes, it is only a matter of time before they need insulin shots on a daily basis. It's like a run-away train, one that may take fifteen years off your life. The question becomes, how can we stop this? Just as prohibition did not stop people from consuming alcohol, outlawing soda and candy will not prevent people from consuming sweets. Since diabetes is much easier to prevent than it is to treat, the key is stick to a healthy regimen before there is a problem. This means limiting one's sweets, carbs, and alcohol. Exercise is also a huge factor in lowering blood sugar.
High cholesterol has been portrayed as the main culprit for heart disease, which is the #1 killer of Americans. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease kills more women than all cancers combined, and 90% of women have one or more risk factors. But that's not the whole story. People with normal cholesterol also have heart attacks. People with abnormally high cholesterol don't necessarily have heart attacks. This means that while high cholesterol is a risk factor for heart disease, it is not the cause. It is also an indication that your body is fighting some kind of inflammation, infection, stress or toxicity.
For an accurate picture of the effects high cholesterol has on your heart, I recommend renowned cardiologist Dr. Stephen Sinatra's book, The Great Cholesterol Myth. Dr. Dean Ornish's Prevent & Reverse Heart Disease is also an excellent source of information. Ornish advocates vegetarianism, a position he backs up with scientific research. After 25 years of persistence, Dr. Ornish has convinced Medicare to put its stamp of approve on his program and provide reimbursement.
This is one of those areas with a heavy reliance on prescription meds. Americans spend $29 billion a year on Lipitor and other cholesterol medications; this means they get a lot of positive press. Now the FDA is considering whether children should be taking statin drugs as a strategy for preventing heart disease. As an alternative, I recommend the Vita Heart Cholesterol Health supplement; it is an effective, natural approach to reducing cholesterol.
I treat a lot of toddlers, and I often find myself testing for the presence of heavy metals in their bodies. Parents will do anything to figure out what is causing their child's Autism, Asthma or Eczema, and they ask me to find whether their child has heavy metal toxicity. Hair analysis, for example, is an excellent way to determine one's levels of mercury and aluminum. -But where do these heavy metals come from? Is it fish? Is it pots & pans? Is it underarm deodorant from the parent, or from the additives in the vaccines? It's difficult to know, but most all the children I see under the age of five are contaminated with heavy metals.
Last, but certainly not least, is Herpes, also known as the "silent" infection because people are often unaware that they have it. It is extremely common; an estimated 20% of the population has it, and 80% of them are unaware of it. This is due in part to the fact that herpes can be spread not just through intercourse, but through kissing as well. About one million new cases are reported each year, but what about the cases that are not reported? In my opinion, half of the country most likely has herpes. In Australia, the government page states that 75% of adults have herpes (HSV1). Women are twice as likely as men to have HSV2. Do Australians have more sex than Americans, or are they just better about staying informed about their health status?
Current research indicates that herpes viruses are linked to well known diseases, such as Bipolar Disorder, Crohn's disease, MS, and Pancreatic Cancer. In my holistic practice, I have cleared patients of Epstein-Barr Virus, influenza, HIV and other viruses. These viruses often lead to other serious conditions. A middle-aged man came to my office for holistic support in dealing with his prostate cancer. After several treatments, I intuitively sensed his cancer had been caused by herpes. I shared this possibility with his MD, who ordered a blood test. When the test came back positive for herpes, I then had the opportunity to heal the patient of this condition.
Most medical conditions, including the 5Hs, have an emotional component as well. High Blood Pressure, for example, has been linked to anger and fear. I recently read about a study that found that racism may trigger high blood pressure. Therefore, when I treat people with high blood pressure, I always make sure to release any negative emotions that have been attached to the body since childhood. Sometimes I even find these emotions in the patient's subconscious or spirit. Oftentimes, even long-term residual feelings, like bad memories, can be released instantaneously.
There is no substitute for a positive healthy lifestyle and recreational activity. Typically, when a patient starts taking medication for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high blood sugar, it is for life. They never get off the meds. The number one priority for a healthy lifestyle is constructive thinking, seeing the glass as "half full". Make yourself happy. Moderation is the key. Indulgences are okay as long as you don't go overboard.
For 20 years, before moving to Atlanta, Dr. Mike treated many celebrities, top CEO's and world-class athletes in Los Angeles. He has toured the country treating colleagues and has been a participating health care provider at four Olympic Games. He developed the first U.S. patented for optimal absorption of comprehensive nutrients. He has spent the last 12 years at Plastikos Surgery Center & Millennium Health where he treats patients for a variety of issues. Dr. Mike's approach for improving health & performance is safe and effective.

Taking Medicines and Supplements to Help You

Health and fitness are important for people at any age, but they become of increased concern when a person grows older and finds that his body may be deteriorating. Anti-aging products have become very plentiful.
Years ago when my mother was living as an older woman, she visited her brother and his wife in another state. She was surprised at how many pills they took on a daily basis. They had both been pharmacists who believed in the medicines they ingested each day. They believed that they were being helped by the various products. Indeed, they enjoyed good health and fitness throughout their long lives.
The world is full of medicines. You cannot turn on the television without seeing commercials for all manner of prescription medicines which are available for all kinds of physical and mental problems. Doctors seem happy to prescribe pills for every imaginable ailment which should also make the drug companies and pharmacists happy with the business. However, some people are leery of using a lot of prescription drugs because of all the possible side effects which sound much worse than the illness which may be present. People are advised to inform their doctor of all medicines and supplements which they are taking.
Nutritional supplements and vitamin products which are said to contain so called natural ingredients are equally plentiful. They line the shelves of grocery and drug stores. They are available in large quantities at various discount and wholesale membership outlets. It is a huge business said to be in the trillions of dollars a year.
Some people who are looking for better health and fitness through using nutritional supplements are finding that they are able to use products which seem to help them while at the same time pursuing a home based business opportunity in network marketing. This industry has dozens of now quite well known companies selling all manner of supplements intended to help a person feel and look better. While they are forbidden from making health claims about their products, the people who use them are able to share their success stories with others who may be interested. In this manner, they are able to get others to buy the products as well so they may start to earn some money as they consume products in which they have faith. They do have to share information about the products and the business opportunity to ever make any money in the business.
Better health and fitness can be achieved by most people no matter what age they are. It seems to be a well known fact that people are living longer and will begin to have even greater longevity in their lives. Trying to feel better as you age is a worthy goal for anyone.

A Promising Amino

Amino acids are incredible health nutrients that most people know very little about. However they are involved in every chemical reaction in the body. They are essential for overall common health and reversing the aging process. Scientists now broadly define aging as the inability of the body to restore or rebuild itself. Guess what amino acids do?? You got it. They rebuild the body.
A lot is known about vitamins, minerals and healthy eating. Just watch the media. Little is said about amino acids. Let's compare the body to an automobile. If you fuel and maintain your car with good octane fuels, oils and lubrication, it runs good. The same is true with your body. Having raw good foods and supplementing with vitamins and minerals your body will function optimally as well. Now if this same car breaks down, it needs parts to repair it. Right? The same is true with our bodies. If our body begins breaking down, called aging, we need amino acids to rebuild ourselves.
Let me introduce you to one of those very effective amino acids.--L Arginine
L-arginine was first discovered in 1866. It's promising effects startied revealing themselves in the 1930's when researchers discovered that L-arginine was able to remove ammonia from the body and produce creatine a necessary nutrient. Ammonia is a highly toxic substance. But Arginine's real breakthrough happened in 1998 when a Nobel prize was awarded to 3 scientists for the discovery and role of Nitrous Oxide (NO). Arginine sythesizes NO. Since then Arginine has been researched and studied for its extraordinary role in heart health.
Nitrous oxide causes a condition called vasodilation. Vasodilation widens, relaxes, and opens arteries thereby improving blood flow. This is critically important for heart patients. If we think about it, most heart conditions including angina, congestive heart failure, arthrosclerosis and high blood pressure have their foundations in low blood flow or restriction of the arteries. When arteries are widened and blood flow is improved, most of the other heart conditions resolve themselves.
However Arginine is also useful for many other things. Due to it's blood flow improving qualities conditions like claudication (pain in the extremities due to restricted arteries), erectile dysfunction and migraine headaches are relieved. Some studies are now revealing that arginine might even be helpful for Dementia and Alzheimers patients which are nothing more than heart attacks of the brain due to low blood flow. It is known to improve immune system response and actually is an effective weight loss supplement. Arginine increases natural HGH production. HGH speeds up the metabolism, reverses the aging process, and speeds up healing processes throughout the body. Arginine is also a strong anti-inflammatory amino that will improve any condition like arthritis.
As anyone who regularly supplements with Arginine can tell you, It effects are clearly noticeable. Some qualities to be noted are more endurance, energy, less joint pain, better and quicker recoveries from strenuous pressures or workouts, heightened sexual experiences, skin rejuvenation and clearer and more focused thinking.
It is now estimated that most people over 30 need supplementation. Deficiency results in fatigue, hair loss, recurring sickness, poor skin conditions, and poor cognitive function.
L Arginine should be on everyone's supplement list. It simply is so versatile and effective for many aspects of health. If you are in the 40+ category you will definitely notice it's effects in a short period of time. It really is that good. Learn more.

Don't Let The Sunset Get You Down

The journey through life may seem long and treacherous at times as everyone faces problems in their lives. No one can escape it. No matter how good things may get or seem, virtually everyone will have moments of pain and despair. How people handle the problems and grief which come into their lives will determine whether it makes or breaks them. Some senior citizens may find themselves alone and depressed. Finding methods to help with anti-aging and making life more pleasant may help with the health and fitness of older adults.
When the sun comes up in the morning, it is the dawn of a new day with new opportunities and new possibilities. Although the sunset can be beautiful, it brings in the evening hours and darkness. That may be the time when people feel the most lonely, and sadness creeps in to cause emotional pain.
The sunset of life or the winter of one's years can be a time of happiness or sadness. When a person becomes a senior citizen and grows old, he or she may find that there is more time available and fewer responsibilities. Life can be fulfilling if there are things to do to fill a person's days. If he is alone, it can be challenging.
There are things a person can do so that the sunset and the subsequent darkness of night do not get him down and depressed. It will help immensely if one can avoid feeling sorry for oneself. The thoughts of "woe is me" can cause a person to avoid some of the good things in life.
Watching television is a favorite pastime for many older people. That is not a bad thing. While children are discouraged from spending too many hours a day in front of the television, it can be a way for older people to keep their minds active and be entertained. Staying up on current events by watching the news is a good thing. A lot can be learned from television.
Reading and learning from books and magazines can keep the mind active to ward off alzheimers, dementia, and depression which could come with age. Playing games on the computer, writing emails to friends, reading information on the internet, and doing crossword puzzles are ways to keep busy and active.
Some older people feel that their income from retirement or social security is not enough to fund a good lifestyle. Many are going to work to help bring in some extra money. Finding a home based business might help a person to cope in his later years. There are many opportunities which require little or no money to start. If a person has some extra money, he might be interested in network marketing which does require some purchase of products in order to earn money. It is not an easy business in which to succeed, but some older people are doing very well in this industry.
Although the sunset and the darkness which follows it can bring loneliness and depression, it does not have to be that way. Finding meaningful things with which to spend one's time can help a person feel happy and fulfilled.

Natural Methods Vs Prescription Drugs

Everyone seems to be interested in looking and staying younger than the years which may have accumulated. As people age, their bodies naturally change and even begin to deteriorate.
Recently I received an email which touted a specific drug which was being marketed to women with claims of preventing dementia and reducing issues which affect women as they grow older. Of course, it was advised that women talk to their doctor about whether or not they should use the prescription drug.
There was a caveat that the drug contains ingredients which may raise your chance of getting cancer or to possibly have a heart attack, stroke, or blood clots. If you have any of a number of certain conditions such as asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, migraine headaches, or other problems such as heart, liver, thyroid, kidney, or other concerns, you should avoid the drug.
Some of the serious side effects which could come as a result of using the drug besides heart attack, stroke, cancer, and blood clots mentioned above are high pressure, diabetes, gallbladder disease, liver problems, increased weight, and leg pain. It also states that these are not all the possible side effects as other problems may result from use of the drug.
When you see commercials on television for various prescription drugs for all manner of ills, they must mention the possible side effects which could even include death. The prescription drugs seem scary to ingest into one's system.
However, prescription drugs are prescribed by health care professionals everyday for all manner of ailments. They have their place and do a wonderful job of improving the quality of life for countless individuals. They also have made a very lucrative business for the companies which dispense the medications. These prescription drugs must be approved by the Federal Drug Administration before widespread distribution so they are deemed to be relatively safe (although the possible side effects are numerous and stated in their advertising).
In contrast to the wide variety of prescription medications for every kind of ailment, there are so called natural products on the marketplace as well. The shelves of drug and grocery stores have many of these products available. The companies often have special large packaging for wholesale discount member stores. It is a huge business involving trillions of dollars as people are concerned with fighting the effects of health related problems and aging.
Many of the natural products which profess to have possible health benefits which are not allowed to make medical claims are sold through the avenue of network marketing (multi-level marketing or MLM) where people can purchase the products as customers or join the business as a distributor to buy and share the products with the potential of earning some money along the way. People must weigh the pros and cons of a product on their own to determine which method and product to choose. It is often worth a careful investigation to find products which will be beneficial to the individual.
Check out http://www.moremlmsuccess.com for information on anti-aging products backed by science and sold through a home based business opportunity which could have the potential to create life changing income.

Does Stress Cause You To Age Faster?

The genetic information of all organisms is contained within the chromosomes making them the source of our organizational patterns like color, health, behavior and so on. Each chromosome in our body is buffered by the presence of structures at either of its ends made of protein-DNA complexes called telomeres. These telomeres protect the genome from being degraded nucleolytically; prevent them from getting fused with other chromosomes or recombination processes. In general terms, they protect the genome from undue erosion. The telomeres are therefore key to the preservation of our genetic code and cannot be done away with. According to the normal physiological process, in each cellular division a little portion of DNA from the telomeres is lost as well. Beyond a threshold point of the telomeric length, the cells undergo orchestrated death through apoptosis. The length of the telomere therefore may act as an indicator that determines the cell or organism lifespan. Various agents that we encounter through our lifestyle might induce the shortening of the telomeres. These agents could cause damage to the DNA or directly affects the telomeres thereby modulating the general health and/or the lifespan of the individual. Therefore, there are factors that can accelerate the telomere shortening and interfere with healthy life and aging. Efforts are now being focused on decelerating this process and reverse the associated phenomenon of aging and related disorders.
Variability of the telomere length
Although the general notion is that the telomere length varies according to the age of the individual, there are high degrees of variability of the telomere length even among individuals of similar age. Existing reports suggest that the telomere length is determined genetically and that inheritance accounts for this variation in (40-80) % of the cases. According to the work of Okuda and his group it was observed that the lengths of telomeres from the DNA samples of neonatal showed significant synchronization that were isolated from umbilical artery, WBCs and skin. However, this was not the case with the telomere lengths of different newborns which seemed to vary to a great extent. The synchronization that was observed within the tissues of neonatals are lost and become more heterogeneous in the aged individuals. There are also literatures available which suggest that the length of the telomere varies between people from different ethnic background. The telomere lengths in African Americans are longer than those of the Caucasians while no significant difference between the telomere lengths was observed from the newborns of the two races. It was also significant that the adult women possess longer telomeres than their male counterparts. Women also show a slower rate of shortening of the telomere. A cue to this may be found from the study that estrogen stimulates telomerase activity. Significant association between estrogen levels and the activity of telomerase have been established. Misiti et al. have proposed that estrogen is also effective in up-regulating the gene expression of telomerase besides its activity.
Stress can affect telomeres
Besides the genetic factors in the determination of telomere length, exposure to varied environmental factors has a significant role to play in it. The telomeres due to their genetic make up show a high degree of sensitivity to oxidation induced stress. Such is the impact of the oxidative stress on telomere length that it has now been accepted that it causes greater damage to telomeres than even the cell division process. Increase in lifestyle related psychological stress enhances oxidative stress that results in decreased telomerase activity and accelerated telomere attrition. Studies have revealed that the exposure to stress for longer duration of time can result in the reduced activity of telomerase that in turn fastens telomere shortening in cells of both endothelial or smooth muscle origin. Accordingly, it has been demonstrated that the intake of anti-oxidants causes the enhancement in telomerase activity with a concomitant decreased telomere shortening. An increase in the level of LDL oxidation has been linked to the leucocytes with shorter lengthed telomeres stiffening the artery.
Other environmental factors and length of telomeres
Evidences have been put forward that suggest that inflammation contributes to a large extent in the shortening of telomeres in immune system cells via the promotion of leucocytes. The telomere length has been negatively affected by the increase in the levels of some cytokines like C-reactive protein (CRP) and IL-6. It has even been observed that mistreatment during childhood, illness of chronic nature and adverse events of life are linked to the formation of short telomeres at an early age. Smoking results in an increase in the inflammatory responses through oxidative stress and a subsequent shorter lengthed telomere. Female smokers are more at risk of eroding the telomeres early. Smoking stimulates the telomere shortening according to a concentration gradient; more the smoking, more is the shortening of telomere. Good habits of physical exercises relates to improvements in telomeres in adults as also in the adolescents thereby suggesting its association with anti-aging process. Intake of marine foods rich in ω-fatty acids also positively influences telomeres. Cherkas and colleagues recently added to this growing list and stated that the socioeconomic status of the individuals can have an impact on the length of telomeres.
Mechanisms to lengthen telomeres
The main function of the telomeres is to support DNA erosion from the ends of chromosomes during replication thereby buffering the process. The enzymes involved in the replication process (DNA polymerases) are unable to copy the entire template as a result with each cell cycle a length of the chromosomal end is not copied and is lost forever. However, in order to prevent this incomplete genome replication and DNA loss, the organisms have evolved different mechanisms. The majority of the organisms make use of the retro-transcriptase, telomerase to lengthen their telomeres. However, it has been found that organisms that are deficient in telomerase activity have devised other alternatives to protect and lengthen their telomeres by processes known as Alternative lengthening of Telomere (ALT). In some organisms, the RecQ helicase is required for ALT. In addition, the removal of Mismatch Repair Pathway can cause an increase in ALT process.
Therefore the telomere length is crucial in maintenance of our health and lifespan. On the other hand, the telomerase activity is absolutely necessary to lengthen the telomeres and keep us healthy and prolong our lives. With our lifestyle we expose ourselves to increased levels of oxidative stress that interferes with telomerase activity and accelerates telomere shortening. Therefore, the intake of supplements that can stimulate the telomerase activity can be quite beneficial in maintaining our health and acting as anti-aging factors. The administration of anti-oxidants could help in this regard by enhancing the activity of the telomerase which in part explains their effectiveness as age reversing agents.

Being a Part of the Huge Business of Anti-Aging

Some members of the world's population throughout the ages have quite likely always been concerned with looking old as they age, but the anti-aging products have become more numerous and popular on the market since the baby boomers started to age. The oldest of the boomers turned fifty (which may be considered as the beginning of older age and approaching the age of seniors) more than fifteen years ago. Some are now bona-fide senior citizens, having attained what used to be the normal retirement age of sixty-five.
The baby boomers have been influencing product lines since they were newborn babies. Now as they are advancing in years, anti-aging products have found increased popularity. There must be thousands of different items available to fight the effects of the aging process. It has caused anti-aging to become a huge business on the marketplace.
Because the baby boomers have been a portion of the population which has always seemed concerned with good health and fitness, exercise centers and spas have become very popular businesses. Any product which is touted as being beneficial for anti-aging and remaining vibrant is likely to have a potential of picking up at least a small portion of a huge market. Many people have become extremely wealthy by catering to this segment of the population over the years. Anti-aging products have now taken center stage for these people.
Creams, lotions, and potions which are advertised to reduce or reverse the effects of aging have become the norm. All cosmetic companies seem to carry them. Pills and liquids are available to help keep the body younger as the years pass. Everyone seems interested in finding that "fountain of youth" which will help keep a person looking or feeling younger. Although there are some benefits to becoming older, it is said that old age is not for the faint of heart. So many changes occur in an older person's life and body with which younger people usually have little or no concern. Remaining healthy is a major goal for everyone although it is more challenging for those in the older groups.
On the shelves of every drug, department, and grocery store can be found anti-aging products of one kind or another. They are also being sold through the medium of network marketing (also called multi-level marketing or MLM), where products are not generally advertised publicly but are sold through people telling people are them. Usually a person attempting to encourage others to join a network marketing business would have to have enough familiarity and success with using the product to convince another person to join the business to also push the products.
Anti-aging products are extremely plentiful in this day and age. Anyone who is concerned with trying to remain younger looking and healthy can find numerous products to assist in that quest. Almost everyone who becomes older is a part of this huge business of anti-aging products by becoming a consumer. He can also be involved in this area by getting into a business which distributes these popular products.

Tips on How to Apply Coconut Butter

Due to numerous benefits of coconut butter its popularity has significantly increased in recent years. Indeed, the number of benefits provided by the coconut is impressive. Numerous scientific findings prove that it helps boost immune system and increase energy level. At the same time, it is essential for weight loss, skin and hair care. In fact, coconut oil can be used in a number of ways, some of which are described below.
Butter Substitute
Unlike most fatty foods, coco butter contains medium-chain fatty acids which function more like carbohydrate than fat. Consuming medium-chain fatty acids is quite beneficial for us, because they are quickly burned by the body filling it with the necessary amount of energy. This means, they give additional energy and are never stored as unwanted fat. While using coconut butter in cooking, you will prepare healthy and delicious meals.
Reduces Craving for Sugary Foods
Probably the most interesting benefit of the coco butter is its ability to reduce craving for sweets. Natural butter is sweet, however it is free of empty calories and manufactured sweeteners found in most goodies. A spoonful of butter will help resist a temptation of eating candy or cookie.
Body Lotion
A high content of lauric acid and natural antioxidants found in coconut butter makes it a great body lotion. When used as post-shower lotion, it gives an excellent moisturizing effect which makes skin luminous throughout the day. On the top of that, it protects skin from the negative impact of sunrays and helps get rid of a number of skin diseases.
Energy Booster
Coconut Butter is an awesome energy booster. Due to the metabolic process involved in breaking down medium-chain fatty acids, this butter gives human body an amount of energy that no other food can give. Consuming this butter is especially recommended for athletes and people engaged in rigorous mental and physical activities.
Weight Loss Diet Component
The process of coconut butter digestion is accompanied by thermoheneses. During thermogenesis, food is metabolized through heat which hastens calorie burning. Thus, if you are on a weight loss diet it is recommended eating a small amount of coconut butter during or before the meal. However, do not get obsessed and keep this amount low.
Hair Care Solution
Coconut Butter is widely used as an effective remedy for damaged and dried hair. Regular usage of home made masks made with coconut butter helps restore damaged locks and restore their beauty. It hastens hair growth and prevents the appearance of split ends. It is also proven to abolish dandruff and scalp dryness and itching.
Indeed, there are many awesome ways on how to use this miracle butter. It is ideal for cooking, baking and can do wonders to your health, skin and hair.
However, not only coconut butter has amazing health benefits. Other products derived from a coconut, like coconut sugar can also help improve your health and complexion. Visit our website to learn more.

Finding Good Solutions For Anti-Aging

Who wants to get old? Virtually no one. Yet aging is a fact of life. No one can keep living and escape it. Only those who leave this life prematurely through the unfortunate ravages of illness or accident can avoid the pitfalls of aging. People often say that growing old beats the alternative, but that may not be the case depending on the quality of life achieved.
An important part of the anti-aging process is to try and stay younger. Though the years will pass, good health should be maintained as much and as long as possible. Good health and wellness are available for most people, but it is certainly not a guarantee of life and longevity. The body and mind will wear out as senior citizens well know. However, keeping as healthy as possible is a good goal for anyone to have.
There are some methods which may be used as good solutions in the fight against old age. Some of these are:
1. Keep the body active and healthy by doing daily exercise
2. Keep the mind active and alert by reading, playing puzzles such as crosswords, being aware of current affairs, writing letters or emails to friends and family
3. Meditate
4. Do some type of volunteer service for friends or strangers
5. Find and use products which could be beneficial for anti-aging
Exercising is not an easy thing to do for most senior citizens. However, there are some forms of exercise which may be helpful while not taking a lot of effort. There are a number of exercises which are specifically geared for the older body which do not require a lot of strain and effort. Walking has long been known to be an excellent source of exercise which could be easy for most people because it generally does not require any special or expensive equipment. Getting out in the sun helps people get vitamin D to keep the bones stronger.
Keeping the mind active should be a fairly simple matter. Many senior citizens have more time on their hands than anything else. Reading and keeping up on current affairs can help the mind stay alert and active. Playing puzzles which require thinking could help. Even watching television can be helpful if it keeps the mind active. Staying in touch with family and friends through letters or emails can bring more happiness and well being into a person's life. Taking some time out for meditation has found to be beneficial. Doing volunteer service benefits the receiver and also the giver. Finding a home based business could help a person feel useful as well as possibly bring in some needed extra money.
Many types of vitamins and health supplements are on the market to aid in the anti-aging efforts. Finding products which help a person feel better may be a boon to becoming older. There are lots of solutions which can help in anti-aging. Finding them and putting them into practice and use could help people improve the quality of life as they age.

How To Prevent Lip Feathering

It's hard enough keeping lipstick in the lines when you're young and have steady hands; imagine how much more difficult it becomes once your skin begins to sag and your lips start to develop wrinkles. The phenomenon of lip feathering is what happens when the skin around your mouth starts developing tiny fine lines, and during the course of the day, your lipstick begins to bleed into these fine lines, which makes the lip look messy. If you want to know how to look younger as you age, preventing lip feathering is an easy way to keep your mouth looking youthful. Here are a few ways you can use natural skin care products to prevent lip wrinkles, as well as ways you can prevent lipstick feathering if you already have wrinkles.
To prevent lip wrinkles in the first place, you need to have both a good natural skin care system in place, as well as healthy habits. Regardless of anything else you do, you should have a good anti aging wrinkle cream in your arsenal to prevent wrinkles and fine lines from popping up, as well as to treat existing ones. (Using a hydrating anti-wrinkle cream helps to smooth out wrinkles from the inside out, by keeping your skin cells plumped and full, so they make fine lines less visible.)
In addition to using anti aging cream twice daily, you should also make an effort to maintain a healthy weight, protect your face from sun exposure, and eliminate cigarettes and second-hand smoke from your life. Balancing your weight through healthy eating and consuming foods that contain vitamins and antioxidants - such as berries, leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables - helps prevent collagen loss in your skin, so your face is less likely to wrinkle or sag as you age. This alone will help with how to look younger. However, much more likely to take a toll on your skin are sun and smoke damage. Fine lines easily show up when you've got a pack-a-day habit, and sun exposure is a close second for destroying youthful skin. If you have a hard time remembering to keep your skin covered, look for a morning anti aging cream that contains sunblock, so you'll always be protected.
Of course, if you already have lip lines, you can use an anti aging wrinkle cream to reduce their appearance. Some people even resort to Botox injections to keep the skin looking fresher, but an anti-wrinkle cream is a better long-term solution.
To prevent lipstick from feathering through existing lip wrinkles, pick up a lip liner pencil that is the same color as your skin, and use it to trace around your lips before applying lipstick. It will keep the lip color contained and won't be visible once it's applied.
Natural skin care is becoming very popular amongst consumers and rightly so. If you have wonders on how to look younger or you're thinking, I look old, there are certain things you can do to move into the direction of looking younger.

Interesting Facts About Botox Treatments

Botox Treatment is popular because it is a non surgical cosmetic procedure that doesn't require any incision. It is basically Botulinum Toxin that is purified and diluted for cosmetic procedures. The treatment helps in efficient reduction of wrinkles, scars, frown lines, crow's feet etc. When injected, the toxin paralyses the nerves and freezes certain muscles that prevent wrinkle contraction. This results in a younger and more relaxed facial appearance.
Owing to the high popularity of such a treatment, most of the important facts about it are out in the open. There are, however, certain interesting facts that are hidden from purview. Some of these facts have been listed below:
• Approved by National Health Service: This treatment uses the only drug of its type, known as Botulinum toxin Type A, that is approved by the National Health Service. It's the same drug that is used to treat botulism. Initially approved in the year 1989 by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), it was approved for treating eye disorders. Much later, in the year 2002, the drug was prescribed to treat severe wrinkles between the eyebrows.
• Not a surgical procedure: Unlike other cosmetic procedures that require incision and months of healing, this particular treatment is performed using very fine needles. The drug is injected in a small amount on facial muscles. The treatment is done in less than an hour, the effects lasts up to 6 months and there is no healing time required.
• Used for several other medical conditions: A lot of emphasis is on the use of this wonder drug to treat wrinkles and frown lines, but in reality, Botox is used for several other medical conditions such as:
1. Treatment of extreme underarm sweating.
2. Treatment of ocular disorders.
3. Treatment of neurological disorders.
4. Treatment of migraine headaches, bladder problems and arthritis.
5. And many more.
• Used to treat facial scars efficiently: Researchers have found that this treatment also helps in improving acne and facial scarring. It is best when used in conjunction with N-Lite laser treatment to enhance the results.
These are some of the interesting facts about Botox treatment. The procedure is indeed one of the most inexpensive treatments to get rid of wrinkles and facial sagging in an efficient way. It is important that the procedure should be performed by a licensed practitioner in order to stay away from any potential harm caused due to lack of skills or inexperience of the surgeon.
London Day Surgery Centre is one of the most reputed dental hospitals in London, offering wide range of procedures such as Botox Treatment, Dental Implants, Oral Surgery etc. using latest techniques.

3 Ways to Slow Down The Aging Process and Age Healthily

Perhaps one of the comments that I hear most frequently in my rooms is, 'I'll tell you what, Doc., getting old is not for the feint hearted!'
What does this really mean? Because the negative effects of aging are so common we have come to accept that it is inevitable, that, as we get older, we will automatically suffer with ill health.
The forms of ill health can vary dramatically from musculo-skeletal aches and pains to more troublesome problems like arthritis, to a range of cardiovascular diseases like arteriosclerosis, raised cholesterol, hypertension and stroke, to digestive conditions and of course the ultimate dreaded disease - cancer, to name only a few of the common ailments we have almost come to expect will surface as we get older.
Is it really necessary to just accept this as inevitable, or is there actually something that we can do?
Well according to research from the USA the whole process of aging is coming under the spot light.
The aging process is a natural process and as such should not necessarily be associated with dis - ease and often disease. In fact there may well be aspects of ageing that are highly desirable - wisdom for example.
Because getting chronologically older is a process that is unavoidable we should really be putting our attention on 'senescence. Senescence is the term given to the processes of age related changes that adversely affect vitality and function of the organism.
We have all known folk in their 70's, 80's and often older that are hale and hearty and the most common comment when around them is 'If I can be like him or her when I'm 80 I'll be quite happy'.
It is commonly thought that senescence is genetically determined and if we are unfortunate enough to have inherited 'unhealthy' genes we will experience all the negative effects of ageing.
A study conducted by a group of investigators at the University of Pennsylvania found that only 20% - 30% of our longevity is determined by our genes. In fact, Dr Bruce Lipton, the well known cellular biologist, believes that the genetic influence may actually be as little 5% - 10%. This means therefore that, at best 70% - 80% and perhaps even as much as 95% of how long we live, and the quality of our life, is determined by the influence of the external environment on those genes.
This therefore puts the responsibility for our health and longevity fairly and squarely into each of our laps! It is no longer acceptable to blame anybody but ourselves for our state of health.
What can we do then to help ourselves? Actually, as it turns out, the anti aging research says that there is a lot that we can do to prevent cellular destruction.
There are three areas that need to be addressed when looking at taking responsibility for our health, wellness and longevity: our physical / structural system, our biochemical / nutritional system and our psychological / emotional system.
Let's take a closer look at what this actually involves.
Our structural system comprises the muscles, bones, ligaments, tendons, cartilage and connective tissue. The structural system is generally very resilient, however the lifestyles that we live today subject this system to ongoing 'repetitive strain'. Repetitive strain means subjecting the body to continuous, repetitive activities such as driving or sitting behind a desk or computer.
As a general rule the hectic life styles that we live today, or the type of lifestyle we lived in our earlier years, and the need to be busy all the time means that we don't get enough R & R time. During time of rest the bodies 'repair teams' become active, replenishing energy stores, rebuilding muscle, producing new cells and 'recharging the batteries'. Deprive the body of rest and relaxation, not to mention sleep, and you place all body systems under physiological stress, which will eventually lead to tissue breakdown, quickened aging and eventually the manifestation of symptoms.
My older patients often ask me what the single most important thing is that I would recommend for an older person when it comes to the structural system. Well, with out doubt it would be to increase muscle tone.
As we age our muscles get weaker and smaller. The muscles are the source of our energy production and structural support. A light resistance exercise program, to strengthen the muscular system, will offer remarkable support for many different body systems.
The second portfolio that we need to invest more thought and planning into is our nutritional and bio-chemical system. Our bodies can essentially be described as complex chemical laboratories. Chemical reactions occurring every milli- second producing pain killers, antibiotics, cortisone, hormones, enzymes, energy molecules and thousands of other substances that keep us alive. These chemical reactions are dependent on that wonderful substance called food.
More important than food alone, it is the correct type of food that is so crucial to the optimum functioning of our bodies. Every meal should contain a combination of carbohydrates (potato, rice, breads, grains), proteins (fish, meat, chicken, nuts, seeds, cheese, eggs, beans, soya) and fats (olive oil, fish oils, flax oils). Meals should always be eaten while sitting down and not 'on the run' and each mouthful should be chewed 20 times!
Refined foods such as sugar and white flour, processed foods such as frozen meals and packet foods, 'deli' meats and tinned foods, fast food and junk foods are all 'nutrient deficient' and should be taken in moderation, if at all.
If these foods are consumed on a regular basis it places the bodies coping mechanisms under stress, resulting in such conditions as 'insulin resistance', which has been directly linked to cardiovascular disease, adult onset diabetes, raised cholesterol levels and raised uric acid. The body is at greater risk of free radical damage, also directly linked to quickened aging. The bodies immune system is 'up-regulated' as is adrenal gland stimulation, resulting in many of the adverse effects of getting older e.g. increased susceptibility to bacterial and viral infections, bowel disturbance, reduced libido, fatigue, menopausal symptoms and the list goes on and on.
Finally our psychological / emotional systems need to be considered as it is these systems that allow us to cope with stress. It is a well known fact that on going stress makes us 'feel' old. Why is it though that some people are more negatively affected by stress than others?
It's quite simple. We have learned responses to certain stimuli that we are subjected to on a daily basis - time pressure, excessive deadlines, perfectionism, dealing with on going relationship problems, living in regret of the past and fear of the future, for example. These learned responses result in the production of certain 'messenger molecules' (hormones) like noradrenalin and cortisol that have the effect of 'up-regulating' virtually every system and cell in the body in order to assist the body in coping with the persistent stress.
As time progresses the body becomes less and less able to cope, the coping mechanisms become exhausted and begin to falter and symptoms start manifesting.
In order to handle these stressful stimuli the subconscious memory banks, where the learned responses are stored, need to be reprogrammed. Reprogramming a negative stimulus into a positive is, admittedly, not easy, but it's not impossible.
Meditation, visualization and affirmations, when practiced regularly, are techniques that will provide the impetus for reprogramming. The amazing power of positivity, as a healing tool, is becoming more and more accepted, even amongst some of the die hard traditionalist.
As we become more proficient at seeing everything in a more positive light the body is less traumatized and therefore can follow the process of 'youthful ageing'.
So it's not too late, take control, make the necessary lifestyle changes that will add years to life and life to your years.

How Old Are You Really? Biological Age

People have always been interested in being "forever young" and today's society is no different. We want to resist the ageing process.
The speed at which we are ageing can be measured - its called biological age, or how old your body really is.
The area of study which is now called longevity, and was once called anti aging, is hugely popular in the states.
It's something I'm very interested in, and see it as a big part of the future for myself and my clients.
Your chronological age is how old you actually are.
Biological age is the age of your body at the cellular level.
Today we will look into how you can establish, what your biological age is and how you can improve it.
There are a few longevity factors in the list which surprised me!
(Deep question alert!)
What is the purpose of life? I don't mean any deep seated stuff, like procreation.
I just mean, what is most people's AIM in life. What do they want to get out of their time on earth?
Firstly and most importantly, people want to be happy. Easier said than done.
Happiness is a state of mind. It's a feeling.
Ask someone with a big goal (like building a successful business or losing more than three stone).
"What will reaching your goal do for you?"
Often they will say something like "When I get there I will feel happy", or "satisfied with myself", or they say "I will feel proud".
"I will have more energy".
"I won't be afraid of trying new clothes on or going out with friends".
"I don't want to feel like a slave to food"
"I don't want to be scared to look in the mirror or get on the scales".
Life is all about feelings.
People spend their entire lives in search of feelings! (mostly happiness, contentment, satisfaction and love)
How people actually reach this state of "happiness" is different for us all.
Most people I know AIM for a decent job (or business) with decent money.
All with the ultimate goal of having a good retirement.
I hear people say "When I finish work, I'm going to do this or I'm going to... (insert goal)".
The point here being, if being happy and having a nice retirement is people's main goal in life, then keeping your body fit and healthy surely must be part of your plan.
I know of a very wealthy man who got cancer and passed away just before his retirement, I'm sure that was not part of the master plan, he had built his business up so he could sell it and have a nice retirement (as most business people do).
He didn't make it and didn't get to "cash out".
Many people don't make it to retirement because their "plan" is messed up from the start.
Without sounding depressing we only get one shot remember.
This is NOT a rehearsal.
A lot of people get to retirement age and their body is wrecked!
This stops them from being able to enjoy their time off as much. Living life with lots of restrictions. "I can't go there because of the steep hill", or "I can't do that because of my back or my knees".
After working hard for 40-50 years - to give yourself a good pension and retirement, this is the last thing that anyone wants.
Peoples bodies are like cars.
On one hand you have new cars with high mileage that are not well serviced.
On the other hand you have old cars with low mileage that have been well looked after.
I want YOU to be like a well looked after old car, with low mileage when you get to your retirement.
I know some people, that slog away and get to the age of 40, and feel and look like they're 50 or 60!
I also know many people who hit retirement age and feel like a 40 year old, and can keep on working and exercising for another 20 years!
This is all dependent on how we live our lives, obviously there are things such as injuries, diseases and other bad things which can impact our lives negatively through no fault of our own but on the whole we are in control of our own health.
What affects our longevity?
Scientists agree that these factors all affect your longevity in some way, big or small. (this is not a definitive list)
Muscle size and strength
Level of education
How pro active you are with going to see the doctor if needed
The amount of friends you can rely on, and love in your life
Your diet
Blood pressure
Your upper body strength
If you enjoy your work or not
Weather you smoke/drink alcohol or not, and the amount
If you exercise or not
Most of us shorten our lives and ultimately kill ourselves, through our bad habits and lifestyle choices, whatever they may be.
As you would of guessed, it is possible to slow down the onset of ageing and even reverse it to some extent.
I must say, that there is nothing wrong with ageing, it is inevitable. It is something we should be proud of, a chance to show our wisdom to the younger generation.
This article is just to show you how you can SLOW the ageing process with ease and actually enjoy it.
The Ageing Process
As we get older our bodies start to slow down and stop being able to function as well, sadly there is no getting away from this.
BUT through healthy living and making the right choices day in day out we can delay our body slowing down by years!
Just think how much more you will be able to enjoy your retirement if you feel like a 40 year old? and can spend it with the people you love.
Compare this to how much you will enjoy it if you can barely walk up a flight of stairs without having tired legs and being short of breath.
Your chronological age doesn't have to be the same, or worse, than your physiological age.
How to slow the effects of ageing
The list above obviously helps you but here are a few more ideas for you to beat the clock.
When some people think anti aging, I'm sure some of you may think of things like anti wrinkle creams and lotions, hair dying products, botox and maybe even plastic surgery.
That does kind of sum up some of the western world that these are the steps that the majority of people (plastic surgery being an extreme example) will take to make them look younger, rather than eating healthily and exercising.
Aging leads to loss of muscle mass, loss of mental function, low mobility and a lack of energy, and as you know the cosmetic type anti aging steps I mentioned won't help any of these.
Top tips to delay ageing naturally:
Enjoy the Outdoors - Don't spend all of your time cooped up indoors behind the computer or watching TV. There are plenty of things to do and see outside, especially on a nice day I can't think of anything better than going for a walk with the family down the park or beach. Sunlight also is a natural source of Vitamin D.
Yoga & Meditation - I would say that this is one of the most important strategies in staying young. I started to do this myself and it honestly makes me feel great. Yoga and meditation can help you relax and lower your stress levels (linked with aging) dramatically. It can also help you to see things a lot clearer.
Yoga is also great for your flexibility, the more flexible and supple you are the less chance you have in the future of suffering falls and lack of mobility.
Socialise - Loneliness can be a real killer. Socialise as much as possible with your friends and family. Get out there and do things, go to the cinema, concerts, attend an evening class (the more mentally stimulating the better).
Stay Strong & Active - You have to keep moving or your body will come to a standstill. Taking part in regular exercise is absolutely vital. Regular strength training is extremely important.
Losing muscle mass is something you want to avoid or at least delay for as long as possible so strength training will help this as well as keeping your bones strong, this will lower your chances of osteoporosis.
Nutrition
I believe food is medicine, many of the effects you get from modern day medicine you can get from eating the right foods.
Nutrition influences biochemistry. Biochemistry influences everything at a cellular level.
If you eat well there should be no need for some medications.
If you spend your whole life eating fresh, natural whole foods and stay active then it will also show. You will most likely be lean, mobile, disease free and full of energy, a rarity these days.
You should aim to eat a diet containing lots of quality fats and protein's (the bodies building materials) which will help you to maintain your muscle stores. Also protein boosts the production of HGH in your body, HGH (Human growth Hormone) is your body's natural 'fountain of youth'.
As you age the production of this hormone slows down greatly, regular strength exercise (lifting, pushing and pulling heavy stuff) and quality protein keeps the production of this hormone going!
Eat plenty of antioxidant rich foods - Antioxidants which are found in colourful fruit and vegetables help to reduce the damage caused by free radicals in your system.
Free radicals can speed up the onset of ageing; they are unstable electrons (O1 molecules)which are produced during metabolism. They damage the cell nucleus and the mitochondria.
Free radicals bounce around inside your cells like a pin ball, causing damage every time they hit something. They cause absolute havoc.
Antioxidants provide the free radical with the extra O1 molecule they need to become stable O2 molecules.
Good quality natural foods are the best way to combat these harmful free radicals. Natural organic foods are packed with antioxidants which neutralise the free radicals before they cause too much damage.
Eat Omega 3s - They fight inflammation, improve the appearance of your skin and aid brain function. Three vital things that we need as we age. So make sure you get as many omega 3s into your system as you can, the best source is fresh fish, if not a fish oil supplement will do.
Lower Sugar Intake - Aim to cut out any excess sugar that you eat, excess sugars can modify essential proteins in our body which can lead to wrinkles and energy loss.
Look after your skin through good food and lots of water - Eating foods containing vitamin A (sweet potatoes, broccoli, spinach, asparagus and carrots), Vitamin C (red peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, strawberries, oranges, kiwi and pineapple) and Vitamin E (nuts, seeds and spinach) are a great way of helping your skin look healthy.
Stop smoking and limit alcohol intake - There are few things that age you faster than smoking and drinking alcohol every day so cut out smoking and do as much as you can to drink less.
Lower Stress Levels - This is another big one, I just mentioned that there are few things that age you faster than smoking and alcohol; well I think stress is one of them.
Being constantly stressed will ruin your mood, energy levels, social interaction as well as causing so many health problems.
As I mentioned above, I have found deep breathing techniques, yoga and meditation really important and a great way of combating stress.
Let's be realistic the big medical and health companies aren't going to promote anti aging through the things I just said, they are going to promote it through new miracle pills, lotions and creams, there is a lot of money to be made from it so they will keep on doing it.
The people who buy these products don't have to alter their lifestyle one little bit so it suits them which is why it is so popular.
We ultimately reap our rewards in our retirement, if you have invested some time and effort into your "health & fitness account", you will reap the rewards.
If you haven't then you won't!
You can actually measure your biological age online with a biological age calculator.
If all of the things I have mentioned above didn't require effort or commitment then everyone would be running around into their 90s and later!!
But unfortunately we don't, we die much younger than that.
Depending on what stats you use, in 2010, UK men were reported to live on average until about 77 or 78, and women on average live until 82 or 83 years old.
Do it naturally and do it right.
Let me know your thoughts on this topic, comment below, I really want to know what you think.

8 Harmful Ingredients in Anti-Aging Creams

Let's face it. When we purchase anti aging wrinkle creams, we rarely ever look at the label. So long as our favorite celebrities are endorsing it, and those yummy anti-wrinkle ingredients are marked as advertised, then we're good to go.
What you don't know can kill you, as one saying goes. And while we don't want to be that morbid about it, the truth is, there might be seriously hazardous compounds in your anti-wrinkle firming cream that you probably overlooked when you took it off the shelf. Some of them may cause something as easily treatable as a wee little rash, but others, something as deadly as cancer.
Here are the most commonly present harmful compounds in anti-wrinkle creams:
1. Parabens
Dirt cheap and easy to develop, parabens is incorporated in many moisturizing creams to prolong shelf life. The bad news? It is a carcinogen that mimics estrogen, thus increasing breast cancer risk. It is also allergenic.
2. Acrylamide
While studies have mostly been conducted on mice, acrylamide has been shown to cause cancers and tumors, and is also neurotoxic.
3. Fragrances
We know how addicting it can be to apply scented cream on your face, but it's always wiser to choose odrless ones. Fragrances are often synthetic, with many of them formulated using cancerous ingredients such as toluene, a component found in some anti aging wrinkle creams and sunscreens. Not only does it cause liver and kidney damage and anemia, it also directly affects fetal development. If that's not enough, know that it is also sourced from petroleum and tar.
4. Propylene Glycol
Used as a moisturizing compound, fragrance and emulsifier, propylene glycol prevents healthy skin cells from growing and causes skin irritation. It also has the potential to damage the liver and kidneys and may cause cancer.
5. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS)
Found in at least 90 percent of anti-wrinkle firming creams and other skincare solutions, this synthetic compound results to skin dryness and premature ageing. It also penetrates the skin's natural barrier and easily binds with harmful chemicals like nitrosamine, which is highly carcinogenic.
6. Phenol (Carbolic Acid)
Effective in killing bacteria and microorganisms, phenol is often added to skincare products as a cleansing agent and exfoliant. However, it causes skin dryness and irritation, not to mention convulsions and paralysis. In severe cases, prolonged heavy use may cause coma and respiratory arrest.
7. Ethanolamines (diethanolamine/ DEA, monoethanolamine/ MEA, triethanolamine/ TEA)
Incorporated in a few anti-wrinkle firming creams to create balanced skin pH, ethanolamine has been discontinued in skin care products in Europe due to its carcinogenic and allergenic properties. Reports reveal eye irritation, skin dryness and hypersensitivity reactions.
8. Padimate-O
A PABA derivative (itself a hazardous sunscreen ingredient), this water-soluble compound is commonly found in sunscreens as well as anti aging wrinkle creams that offer sun protection. Padimate-O releases free radicals in the body, which increases skin cancer risk.
Before you grab your next jar of anti-wrinkle cream - or any other skin care product for that matter - check the labels for these ingredients. Better yet, go green and pick something organic, all-natural, and harsh chemical-free anti-aging skin care product that's proven effective in reducing wrinkles and yielding a more youthful, glowing skin.
